After having discovered the formalization of the new legend called Newcastle for season 13, we are now entitled to a nice preview of what awaits us for the sequel to Apex Legends on May 10th.
A great batch of content!
As we saw in a previous cinematic, the new champion is called Newcastle. He can move his allies on the ground while he revives them, while protecting them with a shield. Like Gibraltar and Toxic, he takes 15% less damage given the size of his hitbox. His tactical skill allows him to control an indestructible wall via a drone and his ultimate creates a fortified castle on an ally or target area. This castle has its own health bars, divided into four parts according to the areas.
If this new season does not bring a new card, several places will however be modified. The most notable modification of all is that of Downed Beast, where a huge aquatic prehistoric monster washed up on the beach. Small element of madness: it will be possible to enter the throat of the beast to recover rare equipment.
According to the developers, this critter is not just a decorative element, because it will be possible to climb on it in order to gain height over enemies. In several places on his body, you will be able to find high-level hidden loot. Needless to say, this new location is sure to be a place of intense early game combat.
Loot do you want some here
This new season makes it possible to welcome a new game mechanic: the IMC armories. These will be four in number on the map and will allow you to obtain high quality equipment. Unfortunately for you, acquiring these great rewards will not be without danger.
To get your precious loot, you will have to face waves of robots for 60 seconds and survive them. The more enemies you defeat before time runs out, the better your reward will be. A welcome game system that gratifies gamers with no shivers down their spines.
The developers would have reworked the map according to the various feedbacks as Season 12 progresses. We don’t know exactly what has been reworked, but players should expect a good number of surprises. A new spider nest is said to have appeared at the command center and many lurker nests have been reviewed.
Season 13 is also an opportunity for Respawn Interactive to review its ranking system in ranked games. Information about this is currently vague, but the primary goal is to reward team play. It could be frustrating to jump into ranked play only to find individualistic players playing on your side.
In addition to all this, the studio also took the time to refine its title by fixing many bugs. A hundred fixes and adjustments still unknown at the moment will be operational as of May 10.
Apex Legends is available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
