The New Jersey Supreme Court on Thursday solidified the statute of limitations in some cases that hinge on DNA, saying the five-year clock starts when investigators possess a sample from a suspect – not when they actually match it to the suspect. The 5-0 decision wipes out the convictions of a Camden County man, Bradley C. Thompson, who was found guilty at trial in 2018 of criminal sexual contact and burglary, for a crime that occurred in 2001.
