Battlefield fans must be strong now: Hazard Zone will no longer receive updates. So the game mode is practically dead. So EA and DICE are dropping a large part of the game for good. But there is still hope for the shooter.

There is good news and bad news

Can Battlefield 2042 still be saved? Most players would probably say no to this question. And the latest developments support this impression. So provides developer DICE now work on the so-called hazard zone mode.

With Hazard Zone, DICE wanted to shake up the battle royale genre. The following trailer provides an impressive introduction to the mode:

The mode will still be playable, but new updates and additional content will no longer appear. This decision is all the more tragic when you consider that the mode accounts for a third of the entire game.

Season 1 starts this summer

But there is also a silver lining on the horizon. DICE has published a roadmap, which records the further development of the game. The developer plans to integrate a new map, a new specialist and various new weapons into the ailing game within the next three months.

In addition, there will also be weekly missions, a Battle Pass and much more with Season 1. Provided DICE sticks to the publication this time. Because Season 1 was originally supposed to start at the beginning of the year and was then postponed to summer 2022 at short notice.

Season 2 is scheduled to be released this fall. However, not much is known about this season.

In any case, the feedback on Twitter is largely unanimous. The update is too late for many fans and many Twitter users are correspondingly dissatisfied with the roadmap.
