According to a report by DigiTimes, TSMC’s next-generation 3nm process technology will give priority to two “VIP” customers, Apple and Intel.AMD Zen 5 may be forced to delay its release until 2024-2025.

According to the report, AMD now has three routes to choose from,One is to break the rhythm of releasing new processors every 2 years, and Zen 5 is delayed until the end of 2024 or early 2025.

The second is the N5P process using an improved version of the 5nm process.Compared with NVIDIA’s 4N process, N5P still has certain advantages, but since Zen 5 itself is a major architectural upgrade,If it lacks the latest N3 process support, the whole will be greatly reduced.

The third is hard on the 3nm process, but the supply of Zen 5 in the early stage will be severely limited when the two “VIPs” of Apple and Intel have seized the dominant production capacity. However, AMD is less likely to choose this route.

There is no confirmation yet whether AMD Zen 5 will be manufactured using the 3nm process. However, it is known that AMD Zen 4 will use TSMC’s 5nm process. As for how AMD chooses, it remains to be seen.

In addition, NVIDIA, MediaTek and other users are also expected to use TSMC’s 3nm process technology, but it is expected to wait until the second half of 2023 or later to put into production.
