Even before the gaming brand Razer became what it is today, Robert “Razerguy” Krakoff launched the first gaming mouse. Now the pioneer and co-founder of Razer has passed away at the age of 81.
In 1999, Razer introduced the world’s first gaming mouse. With the Boomslang, an ergonomic, wired PC mouse was presented for around 70 euros, which should appeal to gamers. There are large mouse buttons and a mouse wheel, which acts as a third button. A total of four keys can be individually assigned via PC software. With a sampling rate of 2,000 dpi, the Razer Boomslang offered higher accuracy than many other PC rodents at the time. Of the Boomslang inventor and Razer co-founder, Robert Krakoff, passed away recently at the age of 81. Razerguy went among the book authors
Up until 2005, Razer was not an independent company, but merely a brand of Kärna, which in turn had released an optical PC mouse with a 2,000 dpi sensor. However, Kärna went bankrupt in 2001, so Robert Krakoff founded the Razer company together with today’s Razer CEO Mi-Liang Tan. In the early days, Manager Krakoff included a message with every new product. Razerguy Krakoff made it his mission to listen to the fans. Krakoff also got many a journalist a job. His wish was to bring a mouse specifically for left-handed people onto the market, but during his time this product was denied to him by the management. There are now Razer PC mice for left-handers.
After his time at Razer, he continued to be active and founded Mind FX Science, a brand of energy drinks. Krakoff played for the Los Angeles Rams for five years in the 1960s. Together with his wife Dr. Patsi Krakoff operated one for Robert Blog about health tips for seniors. Under the name RM Krakoff, the Razerguy also wrote books such as Die Laughing: A Novel.
