Europol announces that a joint international police cooperation has succeeded in bringing down the spy program Flubot. This is because police in the Netherlands have located and taken down Flubot’s infrastructure.
Flubot was first discovered in December 2020 and became widespread among Android mobiles in 2021. This, among other things, resulted in high-profile events in Spain and Finland. The malware was spread via text message and was used to steal passwords and bank details.
The Swedish police also participated in the operation against Flubot together with police authorities from Australia, Belgium, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Romania, Switzerland, Spain, Hungary and the USA. An investigation is currently underway to find out who is behind the damage campaign.
