The head of VK, Vladimir Kiriyenko, during the Big Change festival, said that the company is considering the possibility of releasing the RuStore app store for iOS. It will have to replace the App Store for Russians, from where some popular applications in Russia have been removed in recent weeks.

“We are analyzing the history with the possibility of entering the iPhone market, but for now, Android is a priority for us precisely because of its architecture,” Kiriyenko said.

The head of VK also said that the number of applications for Android in RuStore has more than doubled in the few days since its launch – from one hundred to more than two hundred titles. The capabilities of Android, according to him, “allow us to provide a quality service, as well as protect users from malware and risks in terms of personal data.”

Apple does not allow third-party app stores to run on the iPhone and iPad, this is only possible on jailbroken devices (and there is no jailbreak for the latest versions of iOS and iPadOS). In Iran, which is also under sanctions, the problem was solved differently: the Sibapp “store” operates in the country, which is a directory of links to web versions of various Sibapp services. You can use Sibapp only in the browser, the services work there, there are no local mobile applications for iOS and iPadOS.
