There is a little over a week left before the Xbox and Bethesda conference and for the moment, no leaks have appeared to reveal its content in advance. After Starfield and Redfall are postponed to next year, Microsoft will have to give a clear outline of the upcoming release schedule and Obsidian’s next RPG could be officially announced at the event.

Another RPG announced at the Xbox and Bethesda conference?

If you have never heard of Pentiment despite several articles about it, remember that this game started to be talked about last year. It would be a new role-playing game developed by a small team written by Josh Sawyer, lead designer on Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity.

According to the latest rumors, the game would put us in the shoes of an investigator in 16ᵉ century Europe to discover the truth around a murder. The Disco Elysium game has been cited as clearly being among the game’s influences in terms of art direction and narrative designs that Josh Sawyer is renowned for.

The game is described as a narrative RPG experience. Last January, the creator had also shared a picture which represented the dialogues of his new game, and on which we saw many branches.

Pentiment would be the fourth game in development at Obsidian, you can also find the list of games in development at Xbox in our full article. Journalist and insider Jeff Grubb mentioned a 2022 release of this “non-violent” RPG, and if so, it should be presented this Sunday, June 12. Just today, Josh Sawyer made it known about Twitter that he was preparing for the conference.
