With the threat of strong storms on the way, the National Weather Service and Storm Prediction Center have issued a severe thunderstorm watch for five counties in northern New Jersey. Forecasters say some of the storms that fire up Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday evening could pack a big punch, with damaging winds, heavy downpours and small hail. The watch was issued shortly before 2:20 p.m. and will remain effective until 10 p.m. Wednesday in the following counties: Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Sussex and Warren.
