Released a little over two years ago on PC, the visual novel Senren Banka will experience a release on Switch in Japan, but also in the West, as the publisher announced to us this weekend Yuzusoft. Released for the publisher’s tenth anniversary, this one attempts to pay homage to the entire line of visual novels edited by him, while of course bringing his own touch. Here is the synopsis, via his page Steam (which also specifies that Senren Banka is only available in English):
Deep in the mountains is Hoori, a small village so remote that no train stops there. Due to its isolation, it resisted the spread of civilization. However, its rustic charm and hot springs have turned it into a famous tourist destination. One of the biggest draws in the village is the divine sword Murasamemaru, stuck in a stone no one has been able to pull it out of… Until our protagonist Arichi Masaomi arrives and snaps it in half.
Before he can even realize what just happened, he is forced to make amends for what he has done. How, you might ask? By marrying the village shrine maiden, of course! The situation is complicated enough as it is, but it’s just the beginning of his mysterious adventure and a new life in the village.
Masaomi then meets his new fiancée and discovers an enigmatic and strange girl that only he can touch, and begins to learn about the curse plaguing the village of Hoori. In the middle of this hectic new life, for whom will his heart beat? The answers he seeks lie in the legendary sword in his hands.
Senren Banka is therefore a visual novel with multiple branches making a beautiful part of the romance. If the trailer below seems to emphasize the rogue moments, the title is, according to the critics, much more oriented on humor, which is not a bad thing. We will also note a flowchart allowing you to know all the routes you have taken, a very practical addition that you could recently find in Triangle Strategy Where 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. In view of the evaluations on Steam, it would seem that the title could be a good addition for fans of the genre, already well spoiled on our dear hybrid console. Appointment on May 27 to see if it is worth the thirty euros that you are asked for.
