The seventh expansion for Prison Architect brings the gangs into play!

Paradox Interactive and Double Eleven announce the seventh expansion for Prison Architect. Gangs introduces gang warfare and adds another layer of mayhem to the popular prison management simulator.

Players must restore order to their correctional facility and manage the “boiling point” of the population, cleanse gang members, and protect the inmates and staff. Prison Architect: Gangs will be available soon on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch for a suggested retail price of €5.99.

Players show the gangs who’s boss by enacting a code of conduct and turning gang members into valuable members of society.

Gangs form and grow in the penitentiary, with each group having its own personality and reputation. As a result, inmates with certain characteristics are attracted to specific gangs. An inventory of the community can be taken by measuring the “prison temperature,” which gets hotter (read: more dangerous) as gangs grow and flex their muscles.

With programs such as gang rehabilitation, prison guards enact reform and release methods for inmates to slow the spread of gang activity. State-of-the-art spaces are available for Architects, with the ability to set up a Tattoo Removal Center or a regulated fight club, giving prisoners a chance to vent their aggression.

Beware of corrupt wardens who may deal in smuggled goods or accept bribes from gang leaders. Wardens can root out these black sheep during the hiring process and recruit investigators to identify corrupt guards.

“Gangs presents prison guards with a variety of creative challenges to overcome. As intimidating as it sounds, the expansion keeps our players fun and light-hearted,” said Gaz Wright, game director of Prison Architect at Double Eleven. “We designed a Reformation feature to feel authentic while also providing Wardens with clever ways to deal with the gangs and increase community happiness. Gangs expands on Prison Architect’s management gameplay and adds rich new mechanics that offer players a richer and more enjoyable gaming experience.”

Prison Architect: Gangs Key Features:

  • Meet the gang: Gangs form and grow by absorbing or recruiting gang members. Each gang has its own personality and traits, and are naturally drawn to inmates with the same specific attributes.
  • Boiling point: The “temperature” of the inmates and the prison is measurable. As gangs grow and begin to flex their powers, the prison’s “danger temperature” rises. Thanks to the “Boiling Point” UI, players get a detailed overview of what is affecting the lives of their inmates. This allows them to act quickly, keep inmates happy, and prevent uncontrollable riots.
  • Reform and Release: Gang members are allowed to leave their gang. It is helpful here to remove the tattoos and involve them in a gang rehabilitation program.
  • New rooms: Tattoo removal room is for removing gang tattoos. In the martial arts room, gang members train and turn their destructive energy into fights in a controlled environment.
  • Corrupt Guards: Gangs can force guards to smuggle goods or accept bribes. This can already be checked during the recruitment process (bureaucracy). Investigators can also be hired to find out which guards are on the wrong side.

In addition to the Gangs expansion, the free update Kite will also be available to all players. This update brings further improvements to Prison Architect.

Among other things, more wardens, guard dogs, room sizes and much more. Kite also introduces prison capacity options, allowing players to fill specific levels of the facility. The update also features various improvements to the menus and game mechanics.
