Lars Wingefors picks up his wallet again.

Embracer Group starts the week with another big deal – it takes over the development studios Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal. This gives Värmland’s Embracer, led by Lars Wingefors, access to around 50 game series, including Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Thief.

The deal is worth 300 million dollars, almost 3 billion kronor. It must be reviewed and approved before it is in port, which is expected to be ready during the third quarter of the year. Approximately 1,100 employees work at the acquired companies.

Embracers CEO Lars Wingefors:

We are thrilled to welcome these studios into the Embracer Group. We recognize the fantastic IP, world class creative talent, and track record of excellence that have been demonstrated time and again over the past decades. It has been a great pleasure meeting the leadership teams and discussing future plans for how they can realize their ambitions and become a great part of Embracer.

The news is updated.
