Nvidia’s new data center GPU, the H100 based on the Hopper architecture, can be pre-ordered from a Japanese retailer for the first time. Even without taxes, 31,500 euros are required per piece.
Two different graphics card architectures will be launched by Nvidia this year. While the new RTX 4000 graphics cards with Ada Lovelace architecture are to be released for gamers at the end of the year, there is the Hopper architecture for the professional market. This was already presented in March, but so far there was still no price for the first corresponding data center GPU, the H100.
Huge price
The H100 can now be pre-ordered for the first time. The Japanese trader G-Dep Advance currently offers the graphics accelerator for 4,745,950 yen, which corresponds to just over 34,640 euros. However, this price already includes a delivery fee and the taxes applicable in Japan. Without these items, Nvidia’s H100 costs “only” 4,313,000 yen. This corresponds to the equivalent of 31,500 euros.
The predecessor of the H100, the A100, is already available with the same memory expansion (80 GB) and before taxes for almost 12,000 euros offered. If the price called by G-Dep Advance corresponds to the later market level, Nvidia’s new generation would be significantly more expensive.

Nvidia would also offer a lot for this huge surcharge. The GPU of the H100 offers more than twice as many FP32 shaders as the previous generation, and with TSMC’s 4nm process it also uses very modern manufacturing. In combination with a gigantic chip size of 812 mm², the prices demanded by G-Dep are at least somewhat understandable. Especially since bulk buyers will probably not buy from dealers anyway, but will agree the unit prices directly with Nvidia.
