As the developers of Eidos Montreal announced, a return of the “Deus Ex” brand is currently being worked on. However, apart from the fact that the new project will be based on Unreal Engine 5, no other details were given.

At the start of the new week, the steadily growing Embracer Group once again caused a lot of discussion and announced the takeover of Square Enix’s North American division. In the course of the whole thing, the Canadian developer studio Eidos Montreal changed hands, which recently attracted attention with the action title “Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy”.

Shortly after Embracer Group officially announced its acquisition of Square Enix’s Western division, the developers at Eidos Montreal also spoke up, announcing ongoing work on a new Deus Ex adventure. Apart from the fact that the new “Deus Ex” is being created in cooperation with the Embracer Group based on Unreal Engine 5, no further details have been given so far.

While it is certain that the PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will be supplied with the new “Deus Ex”, it remains to be seen when the title will be officially revealed.

A new triple-A experience in the Deus Ex universe

“At this point, we’re crazy people who decided to revive Deus Ex IP as our first game,” Eidos Montreal studio head David Anfossi said during an Embracer Group conference call. “A new team, a very complex production, a new technique and a new studio, a simple challenge.” To accompany the announcement of the new “Deus Ex”, Anfossi published a graphic that deals with the past of the series.

The graphic in question shows, among other things, that the last “Deus Ex” games sold more than twelve million copies. In detail, we are dealing here with “Deus Ex: Human Revolution” (2011), the “Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut (2013) and “Deus Ex: Mankind Divided” from 2016.

There is also talk of two million paid downloads of the two mobile titles “Deux Ex: The Fall” and “Deus Ex: GO” as well as an 83 cut on Metacritic.
