Sam Raimi should be well known to Spider-Man fans. The director of the original Spider-Man Trilogy With Toby Maguire in the Leading Role made a name for himself in the cinematic comic book world in the early 2000s. He returns to it again, not in order to continue the trilogy he has started, but in order to do so Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness bring to the cinemas. Nevertheless, interest in his original work remains, as he recently revealed why there was no Spider-Man 4. After that revelation, he insisted on sharing a little more about the plans for Spider-Man 4 and revealed some of the villains Peter Parker would meet in his future films.
Bruce Campbell as Mysterio
fans of Spider-Man: Far From Home will surely remember the film’s main villain: Mysterio, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. Mysterio had plans to appear in a Spider-Man movie much earlier than that, but it would be very different from his far-from-home variant.
Raimi planned for Spider-Man 4that Bruce Campbell as Mysterio should appear in the film. Campbell is known for his role as Ash Williams in the horror series evil Dead by none other than Sam Raimi himself. The two worked together on many projects, including Raimi’s Spider-Man films.
Campbell had cameo roles in all three films inside Sometimes as an announcer in the wrestling ring at Spidey’s first public appearance, sometimes as an employee at Mary Jane’s theater performance or as a pseudo-French head waiter in the third part. In the fourth part, the role of Mysterio was supposed to be added, more as a funny appearance than as a serious threat to Spider-Man.
Kraven the Hunter in Spider-Man 4
As an actual threat in the film, Raimi wanted Kraven the Hunter see. He’s been one of Stan Lee and Steven Ditko’s invented Spider-Man villains since 1964. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he revealed:
“We were planning to build this character into the next Spider-Man. I’ve always wanted to see Kraven fight Spider-Man on the big screen. I thought that would be really unique. He’s the ultimate hunter, and Spider- You’re like the most skilled acrobat in the air. And I wanted to see Peter develop as a person.”
Raimi hasn’t made a film since 2013 and, at the age of 62, goes straight back into the comic film business. Although now only once with Doctor Strange, but he would also be willing to continue his trilogy. Whether the director will ever get the chance to shoot the Spider-Man 4 he wants is hard to say.
