Lead Hero Designer Geoff Goodman and Narrative Designer Miranda Moyer introduce Overwatch 2’s new hero, Sojourn, in this installment of the Developer Update video series. You will learn more about their background, their weapon and their skills.

Sojourn is Overwatch’s 33rd heroine and, according to the Blizzard developers, offers a unique gameplay experience along with incredible abilities that give her great mobility and medium-range firepower. Lead Hero Designer Geoff Goodman and Narrative Designer Miranda Moyer introduce Overwatch 2’s new heroine in this installment of the Developer Update video series. You can find out more about their skills below.

railgun

The railgun’s primary fire mode is a lightning-fast projectile that generates energy on impact. This energy charges the secondary fire mode, a devastating shot that consumes stored energy. Sojourn isn’t exactly easy to play – the more accurate you aim your railgun, the more efficient you are. Only those who practice a lot can use the concentrated power of the secondary fire mode.

disruption shot

Disruptive Shot is an area of effect ability that slows enemies and reduces their hit points. This allows Sojourn to increase the efficiency of her railgun. Early prototypes of this ability dealt high damage to barriers, but ultimately we decided to design the ability to complement the secondary fire mode.

power slide

Sojourn’s Powerslide gives her remarkable mobility. The rocket-powered ability can be canceled at any time with a high jump in the air. If used correctly, you can reposition yourself as a Sojourn in no time. Sojourn chose her cybernetic mods to fight as efficiently as possible – in stark contrast to Genji, who was forced into his body. The cybernetic prosthetics and abilities are a means to an end, but ultimately it’s the goal that counts for Sojourn.

Overclock (Ultimate Skill)

Sojourn’s ultimate ability automatically charges her railgun energy for a short time, causing her shots to penetrate enemies. Overclocking is another example of how Sojourn’s skills reward skill and aim. Once she activates her ultimate, she can use her railgun’s secondary fire mode to quickly take down enemies with devastating shots.
