To preserve the purity of the French language too often “polluted” by English terms having no equivalence in the language of Molière, the French Ministry of Culture through thea commission for the enrichment of the French language, published this Sunday a decree to the official newspaper to enrich our language with new words related to video games. So the DLCs become the CTA for “Additional downloadable content” (instead of “Downloadable content“.) Say no more eSports Where Matchmaking but Competitive video game and Player Pairing. As to Streamersthese are now in France Live Players or Hosts. the Free-to-play is a Free access gamethe Cloud Gaminga cloud game, the retrogaming, the Retrogame and one Skill Gamea Skill game.
If it is not certain that all these new official names (which you can find in the two tables below) manage to impose themselves, it is also not totally stupid to propose a French version of them even if it’s a bit late.
