Darkest Dungeon 2 from developer Red Hook Studios has been in Early Access on the Epic Games Store since October 2021, and the end is now in sight.
In a new one community update the developers announce that the release of version 1.0 is currently planned for February 2023.
What the developers are working on now
The most recently released update, The Shroud of the Deep, brought with it a bunch of new content. The creators are currently concentrating on the three major areas of “Progression”, “Relationships” and “Driving”.
The progress in Darkest Dungeon 2 would like to be fundamentally revised, since the current system does not offer sufficiently important decisions in the opinion of the makers.
“The new system offers a much stronger and more compelling connection between expeditions and focuses on an interesting hub through which you can improve your skills and unlock new items,” it says.
They also want to revise their relationships with each other. Here, too, there is talk of more important decisions, and more pressure and surprises should also be included.
The driving aspect refers to the preparations for your adventures that you want to make better.
At the same time, Red Hook also wants to rework and expand the existing environments and characters in Darkest Dungeon 2 before adding new ones.
When version 1.0 is released in February 2023, Darkest Dungeon 2 should also be available on Steam.
