The woolly dog
The Salish peoples lived over a vast territory from British Columbia in Canada to northern Washington State in the United States. They were one of the only peoples in North America to breed dogs for their hair in order to weave it into blankets or clothes. Fortunately, the dogs were not killed: they received special care. These dogs in question were woolly dogsalso called Salish Wool Dogs. They looked like a mix between a spitz and a poodle. In addition, they had white woolly fur and were small in size. Woolly dogs may therefore have been Nordic dogs due to their cold-adapted hair.
