The first episodes of the Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series aired last week and set a new viewership record for Disney+ – the series had a better launch than The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

The first two episodes of the series Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi aired last week on disney+ and according to the official Star Wars Twitter account, the broadcast set a new viewership record for the video-on-demand platform (for an original series and in terms of viewing hours over a weekend of launch, worldwide). As often, the group does not communicate any figures, but we remember that the previous record was held by the series Marvel The Falcon and The Winter Soldieraired a little over a year ago.

If the first episodes of the series are obviously not completely unanimous with the spectators, the audience record is undoubtedly not a surprise: we obviously know the popularity of the science fiction license and since The MandalorianDisney regularly praises the success of the series on its platform – to the point that Disney is now inclined to favor them to the detriment of Star Wars licensed films.

We understand all the better the many series projects that must follow one another over the months and years to come: Star Wars: Andor will be broadcast from August 31 to relate the events preceding the film Snape Onewaiting for next year the series Star Wars: Ahsoka based on the character ofAhsoka Tano (played by Rosario Dawson), then Star Wars: Lando on Lando Calrissian and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew with Jude Law. Disney is also betting on animated series: season 2 of Star Wars: The Bad Batch is expected this fall, as is the newly announced series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi (based in particular on the youth of Ahsoka). Something to satisfy fans of the license.
