Phoenix Network Technology News Beijing June 1st news, Facebook parent company Meta announced on Tuesday that it will change the ticker symbol to “META” before the stock market opens on June 9, replacing the current “FB”.

Meta said the company’s shareholders do not need to take any action on the ticker change.Facebook has used the “FB” ticker symbol since its initial public offering (IPO) in 2012.

In October, Facebook changed its name to Meta, saying it was part of an ambition to expand beyond social media. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is particularly interested in building the metaverse. The metaverse is a sci-fi term that refers to working and playing games in a virtual world.

Investment firm Roundhill Investments has since announced that it will drop the “META” symbol in its Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF, apparently ceding to Meta.
