News about the strategy game remaster WarCraft 3: Reforged can be expected in June, as the head of developer Blizzard indicates.
The new edition of the strategy classic from 2002 was released for the PC in January 2020 and received a lot of criticism. At the time, it became the lowest-rated game on Metacritic by users.
Improvements are a long time coming
In May 2020, Blizzard announced that they were working on a roadmap to solve the game’s problems. A few months later, however, no more updates followed.
Something seems to have happened, however, because Blizzard boss Mike Ybarra has hinted at news for June on Twitter.
More WarCraft 3: Reforged news:
He was responding to a Twitter user asking if there was “any news from the WarCraft 3 Reforged Team”. His reply: “You will hear from them soon (in June).”
It is unclear whether we are facing a comprehensive update. Warcraft 3: Reforged was missing several features that were once seen when it was announced. These include improved cutscenes and visual optimizations for shaders, lighting and so on.
WarCraft 3: Reforged even lacked support for clans and rankings at release.
The last patch for the remaster was released in April 2021. According to a July 2021 Bloomberg report, the Classic Games team responsible for WarCraft 3: Reforged has been disbanded.
We’ll probably find out shortly what’s going to happen next.
You’ll hear from them soon (in June).
