Five years ago, WhatsApp introduced the ability to delete sent messages. While this feature is still very handy, it’s a little weird when you send a sticker wrong or misspelled a word and need to delete the message, fix it, and then send again.

The problem here is that whatsapp is telling the other user that you have deleted the message. Now a better solution is finally in the works.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on the ability to edit text messages in a future update. At the moment, the publication believes that WhatsApp will not include an edit history to check previous versions of edited messages, but since this feature is still in development, plans may change.

In addition, it is still unclear how long people will have to edit their post. For example, when WhatsApp released the ability to delete a sent message, users had seven minutes to erase the text.

WABetaInfo has shared a screenshot of the Android app for now, although the post has confirmed that the feature is also under development for WhatsApp for iOS and desktop. In chat, when you press and hold on a message, a new “Edit” button will appear, after which the user will be able to correct or add additional information to the message.

At the moment, only Facebook offers the ability to edit a post. Instagram only allows you to delete a message, while Messenger allows you to unsend it.

WhatsApp has added several new features to the app over the past few weeks, such as Reactions, larger group chats, more people in a group voice chat, and increased file size when sending attachments.
