IT House June 1 news, according to MacRumors reports, Apple plans to add the first-generation iPad Pro to the list of obsolete products by the end of June, the company this week in an internal memo distributed to Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers announced the news.
1st generation iPad Pro
More than five years have passed since Apple last sold the product, which became “obsolete.” Older products were previously ineligible for service from Apple, but Apple Retail Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers now offer repairs for older products for up to two years, depending on parts availability.
The first-generation iPad Pro, released in November 2015, featured a 12.9-inch display, significantly larger than the 9.7-inch display on all previous iPad models. Alongside the device, Apple also introduced the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil for the iPad, making the iPad Pro more of a direct competitor to hybrid tablets like Microsoft’s Surface. The Smart Keyboard attaches magnetically to the iPad Pro’s new Smart Connector.
The original iPad Pro also featured Apple’s A9X chip, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a Home button with Touch ID, and four speakers. In the US, prices start at $799 for a Wi-Fi-only model with 32GB of storage, and an LTE model is also available.
In addition, the memo stated,The 32GB version of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will also be classified as obsolete at the end of June.
Apple TV HD
Multiple sources say Apple’s memo shows “Apple TV HD” will also be classified as an obsolete device by the end of June, although Apple continues to sell devices with 32GB of storage.
Even if the Apple TV HD will be discontinued at Apple’s upcoming WWDC22 Worldwide Developers Conference, it’s premature to classify the device as “obsolete” under Apple’s current definition, as distribution ends five years away.
Apple TV HD was first released in October 2015 as the fourth-generation Apple TV and changed its name after the launch of Apple TV 4K in September 2017. In addition to the Apple TV 4K, the Apple TV HD has also started to bundle a slightly revised Siri remote with a white circle around the Menu button, but it’s been less than five years since the change, so that doesn’t seem like a plausible explanation either.
One possible explanation is that “Apple TV HD” is a misnomer, and Apple is actually referring to the “Rev A” version of the third-generation Apple TV, which was discontinued in October 2016, but some time after that Still available as an out-of-stock order, which means the device may be up to five years after it was last distributed.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to release a new Apple TV in the second half of 2022.
iPhone 4S
Apple’s memo says the iPhone 4S will be classified as “obsolete” by the end of June. When Apple stopped selling products more than seven years ago, products were considered obsolete and, with the exception of a few regions, were no longer eligible for hardware service.
Apple announced the iPhone 4S in October 2011, the first device to feature Siri. The device features a similar design to the iPhone 4, including a 3.5-inch display, an A5 chip, a 30-pin Dick connector, and an 8-megapixel rear camera.
