Unveiled by surprise at the end of March, the next installment of The Witcher saga is not likely to be released for some time, but new details about the game, arriving in dribs and drabs, are always good to take. We had learned in particular that the medallion of the first teaser represented a lynx, but today, it is more precise information concerning the development of the CD Projekt Red game which is revealed.

More than 100 developers are working on the preproduction of the next The Witcher
It is therefore the latest financial statement of CD Projekt Red spanning from January to March 2022 which prompted Adam Kiciński, the CEO of the Polish group, to speak about the progress of the main projects underway within the studio: the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077 and the new The Witcher.
The good results of Cyberpunk 2077 are correlated to the recent launch of preproduction on the next installment of The Witcher saga since the beginning of 2022. The phases of reflection around the title began last year and now more than 100 developers are assigned to this pre-production task which precedes the full development of the title. The Polish studio says it is “very satisfied” with the project at the moment.
The transition from REDEngine to Unreal Engine 5 is already showing excellent results in terms of productivity and efficiency within development teams. The latter work in concert with those of Epic to ensure the proper functioning of the Unreal Engine 5 and to optimize its potential and its exploitation to create “powerful RPGs in the open world”. Finally, we learn that new tools, including narrative design, are developed internally by CD Projekt RED.
After the many difficulties encountered by CD Projekt RED and its development teams over the past few years, this new information is more than positive. It seems that the studio has managed to find a good balance between the steady progress of The Witcher project while ensuring a qualitative follow-up for Cyberpunk 2077. Let’s not cry victory too quickly and wait to see concretely what it is , as the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was once again pushed back last week.
