Narrative adventures such as Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open are part of these works pleasing a very particular fringe of players. We think in particular of certain games that have become cult like Grim Fandango or more recently Life is Strange. It’s hard to guess what reception will be given to this production published by Chorus Worldwide Games, but there is no doubt that the artistic direction chosen will not leave anyone indifferent, for good or ill.
Welcome to Malaysia
You have understood it, it is here a world of paper drawn entirely by hand which awaits you. You will have to solve puzzles and complete many mini-games in order to advance in this Asian folklore. You will play as Ting, a 5-year-old Malaysian girl, prey to a supernatural power that she must learn to master.
You will follow the little girl as she grows up in this Malaysian paper theater where your dialogues will influence the rest of your adventure. You will also have to be clever to avoid ghosts and spirits that would try to harm you, in this adventure described as being sometimes scary, in order to discover the nature of Ting’s power and the reason for it all.
Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open is expected in 2023 on Steam. It will also be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch without any date being communicated for the moment.
