IT House May 24 news, as early as March, we reported that Microsoft was preparing to retire Internet Explorer on June 15, and updated the IE mode in Edge to deal with the resulting backlash. Therefore, developers can rely on Microsoft Edge when using Internet Explorer-based web applications. The same applies when they embed web content via the MSHTLM (Trident) engine. It’s all about making the transition for developers both efficient and seamless.
Microsoft recommends Microsoft Edge WebView2 to developers because they consider it “the best and latest web platform for building embedded browsing experiences.” According to Microsoft, based on tests conducted by Cerner Corporation,“Compared to Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge WebView2 reduces rendering time by 85%, CPU usage by 33%, and memory usage by 32%”.
To be released today, Microsoft Edge WebView2 features the .Net MAUI framework to help developers get their work done as easily as they do with IE. Microsoft further stated that WebView2 for WinUI 2 / UWP users will soon achieve general availability.
