Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Rey’s story may have concluded in the sequel trilogy, but not all questions about her past have been fully answered. In fact, a big secret remained open in 2019, which is only now, three years later, being taken up again. Because even though we learned that Rey is related to the evil Emperor Palpatine, we didn’t get to hear the actual backstory of her parents, let alone their names. Adam Christopher’s new novel, Shadow of the Sith, is set to change that.
Rey’s parents finally get their names
While the conclusion of the Skywalker saga revealed Rey’s parents were forced to hide their young daughter on Jakku to protect her from Emperor Palpatine, those characters were never given real names. Adam Christopher’s new novel, Shadow of the Sith, aims to fill that gap.
In a published excerpt from Adam Christopher’s novel, readers learn that Rey’s parents Dathan and Miramir were called and had been on the run from Palpatine and his followers for years. The book itself is mostly about Luke Skywalker and Lando Calrissianwho join forces a few years before the events of the Sequel trilogy to complete their missions – Luke is on a quest to find the Sith planet Exegol and Lando is on a quest to find his missing daughter.
The story should The Rise of Skywalker give further context and so the two meet Dathan and Miramir, who are from Ochi by Bestoon be tracked. It will surely be exciting to learn more about the past of Rey’s parents. For example, how Dathan, as a clone of Palpatine, managed to escape and what led to him and Miramir having to leave their daughter on Jakku and giving their lives for her safety.
