The Russian bank “Tinkoff” announced the launch of its own payment service Tinkoff Pay. It is reported by RBC with reference to representatives of the bank.
According to the source, Tinkoff Pay is for online and offline purchases. There is no separate application for this service, it works inside the Tinkoff online banking application for iOS and Android – that is, now the payment service is available only to bank customers.
The functionality of Tinkoff Pay is being rolled out in stages, with a full launch of all features planned for 2022-2023. The function of paying from a smartphone and a computer has already appeared in online stores that use Tinkoff Kassa for acquiring. At the stage of paying for the purchase, the user will see the Tinkoff Pay button, press it and confirm the purchase in the application.
In the future, it will be possible to link cards of other banks to Tinkoff Pay in order to make payments from them. In addition, Tinkoff plans to launch NFC payments based on the new PS, but they will only work on Android, since iOS does not provide access to NFC for third-party applications. The function will be available for absolutely all cards of Russian banks, including Visa and MasterCard.
As for the iPhone and iPad, offline payment from them can be implemented in a different way (for example, SBPey works using QR codes).
In the future, Tinkoff Pay also plans to introduce payment using biometrics. In addition, right now, at the time of payment for the goods, the user can choose to fully write off the cost or pay in installments.
