Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in an interview with the “All-In” podcast host on the evening of the 16th local time that China, the world’s second largest economy, will one day dwarf the output of the United States.
“What we’re going to see is that China’s economy is twice the size of the United States, maybe three times the size of the United States, and (by then) anyone alive will witness (this moment) for the first time. Living like that It would be weird in the world,” Musk said of the U.S.-China economy.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), total U.S. GDP in 2021 is about $23 trillion. According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China, China’s total GDP in 2021 will reach 114.4 trillion yuan (about 17.7 trillion US dollars at the annual average exchange rate).
This isn’t the first time Musk has drawn comparisons between the U.S. and China. According to the British “Independent” report on May 10, Musk “complimented Chinese workers” in an online interview with the “Financial Times”. When asked which electric vehicle startup impressed him the most, Musk did not mention his U.S. market rivals, U.S. new energy vehicle startup Lucid Motors and U.S. Electric car maker Rivian, instead, praised China.
Musk said, “I think there will be some very strong companies in China, there are a lot of super talented and hardworking people in China, and their belief in manufacturing is very strong.” He added, “They (Chinese workers) will not only They work until late at night, they work until 3 am, they don’t even leave the factory, and in America, people try not to go to work.”
