While we already knew about the closed alpha of Multiverse from May 19 to 27, Warner Bros Games reveals a little more about the roster. The cast of this “Super Smash Bros Melee like” cartoon sauce appeals to franchises such as DC, Looney Tunes, Game of Thrones or Adventure Times. To the 13 already known, are thus added 3 new characters which can be discovered through a trailer in the form of a twirling cutscene: Taz, the Tasmanian Devil, the Iron Giant and Velma from Scooby Doo.
This brings the number of fighters to 16 for the moment, but this list will be regularly supplemented. In addition to these recent additions, here are the details of those that were previously unveiled:
If the game includes the modes “Training”, “Everyone for himself” playable at 4, 1v1 and “2v2”, it is the latter which is honored in the trailer. The protagonists also appear in rather comical situations. We see, for example, Taz sending his enemies waltzing with his tornado and teaming up with Harley Quin who has taken a liking to him, or Arya Stark riding a rocket with Bugs Bunny.
Warner Bros also has clarified the content of the closed alpha. You will find the characters and game modes mentioned above. Maps available will include the Batcave, Shack (Adventure Time) and the Haunted House (Scoubi Doo). Then comes an open beta in July pending the release in 2022.
Finally, it should be remembered that free-to-play Multiverse will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S and PC. It will also be cross-platform as soon as it is released.
