IT House May 18 news, according to 9to5 Google reports, Google has been seeking to improve the security and privacy of its mobile operating system. Google has recently launched its “Protected by Android” branding, and the brand looks ready for a wider rollout.
The Android YouTube channel uploaded a 50-second video today about how the operating system “keeps you and your information safe so you can focus on what’s most important.” Still images of people using their smartphones — probably Android supported, but sure enough there was an iPhone 8 Plus at 0:05 — with short captions throughout:
“From detecting and defeating bad apps to helping you control your personal information, you’re always protected by Android.”
A smooth animation sees the green Android head turn into a checkmarked shield: “No matter what you’re doing, when you’re protected by Android, you’ll have peace of mind.” Highlighted platform and ecosystem features include:
-
Verified by Play Protect: “You’re safe from malware and harmful apps”
-
Monthly Security Update: “Uninterrupted Security Protection”
-
Location Access: “And Control Your Personal Information”
The tagline at the end is “Android is already around you so you can focus on what’s important,” and there’s a link to protectedbyandroid.com, but it just redirects to android.com/safety.
In addition to this ad, Google also showed off Android 13’s upcoming unified “Security and Privacy” settings page at I/O 2022. There’s the same “Protected by Android” branding and shield below the prominent “Scan Devices” button.
“This page will be based on a new action card, informing you of the key steps you should take to address any security risks. In addition to warning notices about issues, we will provide timely advice on how to enhance privacy.”
