For a long time, the Dune sci-fi franchise was more or less forgotten, but now things are rosy again for fans. The makers of Conan Exiles are now also working on a survival title.
Dune’s theatrical comeback last year started a wave around the sci-fi franchise. The title, which won several Oscars, was also accompanied by new game projects. Recently, for example, the strategy game Dune: Spice Wars started early access on Steam, which combines 4X and real-time strategy elements. Jointly responsible here: Funcom – and that studio is now intensifying its efforts around Dune.
The makers of Conan Exiles have also now started hiring more staff for the next Dune title. It will be an open-world survival game set on Arrakis. It was vaguely hinted at last year that there would be such a project, but a real announcement has yet to be made.
After all: For fans of the franchise, it’s a good sign that Funcom now apparently wants to increase the development team noticeably. The job postings state: “The team, consisting of experienced developers from over 30 nations, is now looking for new voices to enrich our most ambitious project to date, located on Arrakis.”
Further information apart from the further description as “next-gen survival game with an open world” is still pending. Of course, we will keep you up to date on this and until then we recommend the strategy offshoot Dune: Spice Wars.
