The screens of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, which Apple will show this fall, will become larger. However, the increase will be small. About it informed Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants.

iPhone 13 Pro 6.06 inches
iPhone 14 Pro 6.12 inches
iPhone 13 Pro Max 6.68 inches
iPhone 14 Pro Max 6.69 inches

As a result, like a year earlier, Apple will also position smartphones as iPhones with screens of 6.1 and 6.7 inches. So nothing will change for the end user:

According to Mr. Yang, the increase in the diagonal of the screens will occur due to the reduced frames, as well as the new design of the front camera and Face ID sensors, which will resemble a pill next to a round hole:

But the basic versions of the iPhone 14 will not change in almost anything. They will have the same “monobrow” that the entire iPhone 13 line has. It seems that there will be only one difference: the iPhone 14 mini will not be shown in September. Instead, the iPhone 14 Max will see the light. Apparently, the diagonal of its display will be similar to the iPhone 13 Pro Max – 6.68 inches.

There will be so few differences that I have doubts whether Apple will call these smartphones iPhone 14 or just introduce a new iPhone 13 Max model, adding new colors.

“Pill with a Hole” will get to basic iPhones in 2023. This again unifies the entire line, making the differences between them not so noticeable.

In general, the roadmap for future changes looks like this: in 2024, Apple will embed Face ID into the display of firmware, and in 2024 they will also hide the camera. The lines of basic versions and Pro will either diverge, then converge again:

That is, we will see something like this:

Despite the fact that cameras are already being built into the display matrix, Apple is in no hurry to introduce this technology. The reason is the poor quality of the photos. The company expects that the technology will reach an acceptable Apple level only after three to four years.

But such distant plans can change, so you should not expect that everything will be exactly like that.
