An update for Photoshop for iPad has been released that brings it closer to Photoshop for Mac. New features include content-aware fill, background removal, hair and people object selection, automatic tone, color and contrast, and an improved font browser.

Today, Adobe detailed all the new features in a blog post:

Content-aware fill

The Photoshop team has spent over 30 years bringing new and innovative technologies to the imaging process, and content-aware fill is one of the iconic features of Photoshop on the desktop. Today we’re introducing this feature to Photoshop on the iPad, with a simple one-touch step that takes any selection and uses AI to populate its contents based on its surroundings! Make distracting objects in the background disappear or smoothly blend artifacts. Remove ghosts from photos, remove artifacts and dust, and see what else our AI technology can do.

To use it, grab the Lasso Tool or one of Photoshop’s smart AI-powered selection tools like the Object Selector to select an area, tap Content Aware Fill, and watch your selection fade and blend into yours. image.

Remove background

One of the most revolutionary tools in recent times has been the ability to remove the background from any photo, allowing you to take an object and place it in other images, replace the background with other scenes, and more. layer masking, which allows you to non-destructively remove the background from any image without actually changing the original image pixels.

We’ve added this one-tap action to Photoshop on iPad to make your work faster and more precise. Replace any background or place an object on another image. Simply open an image and select Remove Background under the Lasso tool or under Quick Actions in the right property pane.

Choose a theme designed for hair and people

In addition to background removal, Select Subject technology is key to selecting only the most important part of your photos – often people. With our 2022 update to Select Subject, our AI model can now identify photographs of people and perfectly select and refine small details such as strands of hair and edges of clothing. Otherwise it would take hours of precise selection to achieve perfection.

Moreover, all this is done with one click. When the “Select Object” function is used on a portrait photo, it automatically completes all the hair and edge refinements for you. Once selected, you can easily use masks and adjustment layers to quickly turn simple portraits into more stunning images!

Autotone, color and contrast
Some of the most common actions Photoshop users take when opening a photo in Photoshop Desktop is to run some combination of 3 commands – Auto Tone, Auto Contrast and Auto Color. These commands will give you one-touch solutions to fix tonal issues or color imbalances so you can complete the extra photo adjustment steps and get on with your work.

To use, simply tap the automatic commands on the Filters and Settings icon on the right side. Add a quick dose of content-aware fill and you can retouch and remove objects from your photo in seconds!
