Earlier this week, it was revealed that Apple had hired Desi Uikaszewicz, a former Ford executive, to take part in the Apple Car project. Since then, questions have continued to arise about whether the “Apple Car” will become a real thing.

Also known as “Project Titan”, the project is working on Apple’s first self-driving electric car. It aims to launch as early as 2025, but reports say the target is too ambitious.

The Apple Car could really become a reality

According to Patently Apple, the Cupertino-based company today published a new patent for the Apple Car. The patent covers autonomous vehicles, specifically an improved “Guidance System” that can refine the vehicle’s final destinations.

The patent notes that an “autonomous” or “autonomous” vehicle is “capable of detecting [its] surroundings and navigation to destinations with little or no passenger input.” However, driver input can be valuable to the motion control component of this unmanned vehicle.

The Apple patent suggests that the navigation system will be easy to use in areas where accurate map data may not be available. The patent includes various methods for controlling a vehicle using intent signals. It can use multiple computing devices to indicate the destination of the vehicle, such as a shopping mall, office complex, etc.

The route to the destination can be identified and the vicinity of the destination can be reached. At this point, more detailed guidance regarding the actual stopping point of the vehicle may be required. The method may further include detecting, using one or more sensors, one or more signals generated by a person authorized or authorized to provide instructions regarding the movement of the vehicle.

In addition, the patent shows that the driver can use the touch screen of an iPhone or iPad to enter data. Devices can mark a supposed stopping point, track a path, or indicate a suggested direction with a virtual joystick – it seems Siri could also be another way to control a vehicle.

People can also gesture to a proposed parking spot using a voice command such as “park there”.

It is also noted that Apple has abandoned previous patents and replaced them with new ones in order to better represent this project.

Sight

There have been a lot of rumors about the Apple Car lately. Although we’ve been hearing about it for years, I finally feel like this project is actually going to become a reality. Not only with this new patent and the hiring of Desi Uikaszewicz, Apple is likely looking to step up its work. While it’s still many years away, things seem to be heating up and we’ll likely continue to hear more.

What do you think of the Apple Car rumors? Do you think this is the real thing? Would you buy one?
