Finally new content: About two weeks ago, Dragonflight, the new expansion for World of Warcraft, was unveiledwhich promises to expand the MMORPG with new areas, abilities and an unprecedented mix of race and class, the so-called Callers of Dracthyr.
On paper, this sounds like promising innovations and Twitch Streamer and a self-confessed WoW fan Asmongold is already looking forward to the expansion. Despite personal joy, he also expressed concerns: If you are not careful with the game systems, you could offend many fans again.
Fewer views and no hype: Asmongold on WoW Dragonflight
So far, Asmongold’s fears seem to be at least correct: Many fans remain skeptical about the announcement for the time being. In one of his streams came Asmongold now back to the topic Dragon flight to speak, in which he again addressed the skepticism of the fans and the lack of hype.
His viewers had previously seen him on the click numbers pointed out by the Dragonflight trailer and wrote that it was not linked to past videos from World of Warcraftchannel could come close. Many therefore believe that the new expansion cannot generate the hype that the MMORPG has triggered with other content. Asmongold explained why Dragon flight in his opinion could not really gain momentum:
“There are two videos [über Dragonflight] on the World of Warcraft channel. One video has almost two million [Aufrufe] and the other video has two million. But it’s definitely less than Battle for Azeroth. The truth is that after two expansions, people don’t want to be fooled anymore. […] That’s why a lot of people are just waiting to see what happens.”
For this he does above all the already mentioned skepticism responsible for changing game systems that fans have been upset about in the past: “The same thing is happening with Legion. It took about a year or so for people to finally try what the game is like now and play it again. I think the same thing could happen with Dragonflight too.”
Of course, two million views is still an impressive number, but at least compared to the announcement videos of past expansions, Dragonflight is not exactly in the fast lane. So the announcement trailer had to Battle for Azeroth a week after publication around 6.5 million views during it Shadowlands at least managed to reach almost 5 million at the same time.
