Double Fine holds a special place within the team. Both by the titles produced by the studio, which are for some of the cornerstones of modern video games, but also by the approach that the studio takes to design their works. So we were particularly happy to learn that the studio’s latest game, the excellent Psychonauts 2, became Double Fine’s highest-rated and best-selling title! This is indeed what Lisette Titre-Montgomery, artistic director within the studio, revealed in a thread last Friday. We learn that she left the studio earlier in April, marking the end of more than four years spent with Tim Schafer’s teams:
My leadership resulted in shipping @DoubleFine highest rated and best selling game to date. Nominations/Awards include (not limited to):
Game of the Year – The Game Awards (nominee)
Best Art Direction – The Game Awards (nominee)
Adventure Game of the Year – DICE (nominee)— Lisette Titre-Montgomery (she/her) (@zette16) April 29, 2022
Unfortunately, there are no figures to back this up. However, we know that the previous record was held by Psychonauts first of the name with 1.7 million copies sold. The second opus has therefore at least exceeded this figure. A performance knowing that the title had no physical release unlike the first! At the same time, we wish Titre-Montgomery to continue to express his talent within his new adventure.
