For some time now, SFR and Orange have been making big discounts on their “classic” packages, which at first glance may make them competitive with offers from RED or Sosh. We thus find a package 70 GB for €9.99/month at Orange, while SFR offers 80 GB for the same price. If it can be tempting to crack, these promotions are ultimately not so advantageous in the long term.
First, these promotional rates are only valid for 12 months. Once this period has passed, the prices go up to €29.99, which is two to three times more expensive than a package with as much data from RED or Sosh. Although the offers from Orange and SFR are non-binding, the most thoughtless can quickly pay full price for a month or two, which reduces the interest of the promotion over the year.
For others, they can expect to negotiate with customer service at the end of the first year. If it works sometimes, nothing is won in advance: you run the risk of having to change operators in a hurry, perhaps falling in a period without interesting promotions.
In addition, these offers are not necessarily very competitive compared to the subscriptions of the subsidiaries. low-cost using the same network. The RED 80 GB plan is 3 € more expensive currently, but there is a way to do good business while waiting a little. RED and B&You have already offered 100 GB for only €10/month in the past. Orange’s offer is a little more interesting compared to the similar Sosh (80 GB), which is at €5 more per month, but the problem of the increase after 12 months remains.
At this level, Sosh has the advantage of not increasing its prices by a few euros in an unsolicited way. This is not the case with RED, which regularly increases its offers. In the meantime, the operator sometimes leaves the choice to refuse, and you also have a better chance of saving money in the long term.
RED by SFR champion of regular increases in the prices of mobile plans
The “classic” offers still have some advantages over the packages low-cost. Orange includes unlimited calls in Switzerland/Andorra, which is not the case for the Sosh limited series. The incumbent operator also allows the use of its entire data envelope while roaming, unlike its subsidiary which only authorizes part of it. The conditions are almost similar at SFR. If these “bonuses” are interesting for some people, they will completely pass over the head of a large number of customers.
