Germany’s traditional Oktoberfest can take place in 2022 after a two-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic, Munich Mayor Dieter Reiter said on Friday. This means that the iconic festival – known as the Wiesn after the fairgrounds on which it is normally held – can take place at the end of September. In the past two years, the Oktoberfest was cancelled due to the pandemic. In its more than 200-year history, longer breaks have only occurred in times of war.
