Apple releases third beta versions of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5

Apple today released the third betas of the upcoming iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 updates to developers and public testers. iOS 15.5 beta 3 was released a week after the release of the second beta versions.

Developers can download iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 through the Apple Developer Center or over the air after installing the appropriate profile on an iPhone or iPad.

iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 are minor updates from previous releases of iOS 15, and don’t include many changes. Apple may release an Apple Classical app soon, and there are mentions of this app in the beta, but it’s not available yet. iOS 15.5 adds the ability for developers to use third-party payment methods for apps in the Reader category to get paid for subscriptions and content without an App Store account.

Apple Pay Cash also has minor changes: Apple has added new “Request” and “Submit” buttons, and the iTunes Pass wallet has been renamed to “Apple Balance” card. For the full list of changes in iOS 15.5, see our article.
