IT House April 26 news, as Apple Store employees across the country began to join the union,Apple has hired anti-union lawyers in Littler Mendelson.
According to The Verge, Apple has poached talent from Littler Mendelson, a San Francisco-based law firm that handles labor and employment litigation.
Littler is currently helping Starbucks prevent employees from unionizing, and the company helped McDonald’s evade charges in 2014 when a case accused the company of retaliation against workers involved in the $15 campaign.
“From the beginning, I thought unions were a good thing,” an anonymous Apple retail employee told The Verge. “The pay in stores is so unequal – some people who haven’t worked for a long time earn more than people who have been in the same position for years.Apple is a company that takes feedback but no one takes action, with unions supporting employees, there will be more pressure on them to take practical action. “
Following the Apple Store employees at Grand Central Station in New York, Apple Store employees across the United States have quietly pushed to organize unions, citing Apple’s continued record profits while wages have been stagnating.
Apple has more than 65,000 retail employees, including those who sell, repair and troubleshoot products and services. Apple’s retail business accounts for 36% of the company’s 2021 revenue of $366 billion.
