New Jersey will get $2.5 million from the federal government to help shift the national suicide prevention hotline to a three-digit number: 988. The funding comes from President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus stimulus law, and will enable the state to shift the hotline’s phone number to three digits from the current 10-digit number.
