Before the introduction of the new RDNA3 graphics cards in the fourth quarter of 2022, AMD is probably planning to refresh three existing models. According to the latest rumors, however, the refresh is supposed to be a replacement for the Radeon RX 6900 XT, 6700 XT and 6600 XT cards and not an alternative.

A possible Radeon RDNA2 refresh has long been rumored. AMD should actually have planned the market launch of the renewed cards for April 20th. However, this date was allegedly postponed to May 10th. On this date, the refreshed successors of the Radeon RX 6900 XT, 6700 XT and 6600 XT cards will be available. But it may be different than previously imagined.

Board partners are said to only produce new cards

This rumor comes from “Hassan Mujtaba” from the colleagues at Wccftech. In the future, AMD’s AIBs (add-in board partners) will concentrate on the production of the new cards. The Radeon RX 6600 XT, 6700 XT and 6900 XT models would be effectively discontinued as such. Instead, the updated RDNA2 models RX 6650 XT, 6750 XT and 6950 XT should come to the fore.

The slower cards Radeon RX 6600 XT, 6700 XT and 6900 XT should gradually disappear from the market. Since the products are generally quite available at the moment, the replacement of the cards could take a few weeks. According to the website Videocardz, a possible replacement of the previous Radeon models could have interesting pricing implications. If it really is a complete replacement of the Radeon RX 6600 XT, 6700 XT and 6900 XT cards, one might expect the updated RDNA2 models RX 6650 XT, 6750 XT and 6950 XT to be in a similar if not the same price range.

However, a lot of information about the new cards is not yet known. The first specifications for the slowest refresh model, the Radeon RX 6650 XT, appeared only yesterday. The Powercolor RX 6650 XT Hellhound custom model features an increased GPU and memory clock, among other things.
