The Air Company’s vodka is special for many reasons. In any case, it holds the title of the most ecological alcohol in the world.
The laws of physics are pretty awesome, and it’s possible, with a little math and a lot of effort, to get just about anything out of the basics. Thus, a company, called The Air Company, produces a little special vodkavfsvs. Indeed, the company extracts CO2 from the air, and after a few manipulations manages to get vodka out of it, which it bottles and then resells.
Totally clean for consumption, this alcohol is very good for the environment, which captures a large amount of CO2 during the production of each bottle. A process which is not revolutionary, carbon capture technologies have been constantly expanding for several years, but which has the merit of reusing this carbon in an interesting way.
Very environmentally friendly products
While other “CO2 ventilators” simply store the carbon it recovers, The Air Company offers to use it to produce various products. In addition to vodka, the company sells perfumes and even hand sanitizer. The company debuted in 2019, and has since offered the world’s only alcoholic beverage made directly with carbon dioxide.
Although this company is a blessing for the planet, Gregory Constantine, CEO and co-founder assures that “the ideal time to start this company would have been many years ago. Climate catastrophe is something that has been happening for decades.”
He now hopes that his company can show the way for other companies that also want to reduce their environmental impact and thus help the planet get better. “I hope what we are doing now can inspire others to come out and try to inspire change as well and use technology solutions like ours to help try and reverse climate change. »
A project that interests
While few companies have become directly involved in carbon capture, the technology appears to be attracting interest from many companies. Indeed, The Air Company has just announced a fundraising of 30 million dollars carried out with companies such as Toyota Ventures, JetBlue and Parley for the Oceans, an ecological NGO which campaigns for the depollution of the oceans.
In his press release announcing the fundraising, Constantine explains that he has the ambition to “contribute to the protection of our planet through the advancement of technology and innovation, so we do our job”.
