With Patrick Plourde, a longtime developer from Ubisoft says goodbye. This is the creative director of “Far Cry 3” and “Watch Dogs 2”. In recent years, he has been a major contributor to the French publisher’s poor work culture. There is no precise reason for the resignation.

Ubisoft loses a key employee. After almost 20 years, Patrick Plourde decides to turn his back on the French video game company. In the future he would like to offer his own creative advice through which he will continue to work with Ubisoft. The publisher has already confirmed that some creative directors are advising and the editorial team is receiving support for individual projects. Apart from that, he would like to implement a few personal projects as a freelancer – outside of the video game industry.

He published this message on Twitter on Wednesday. Patrick Plourde thanks Ubisoft for the numerous games he has been able to contribute to over the years. These include the third “Far Cry” spin-off, where Plourde served as creative director. He was also responsible for the creative direction of the acclaimed “Watch Dogs 2”.

Other projects he has been involved in during his long career include Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas, Assassin’s Creed and Child of Light.

Several complaints against Plourde

Patrick Plourde may have done a great job in his nearly two decades at Ubisoft. However, the developer veteran is one of the main culprits for the toxic work culture in recent years. Harassment, abuse and discrimination have been recurrent in his time. Just last year, A better Ubisoft, a group of former employees, criticized Plourde’s whereabouts. Eventually, several complaints were filed against him for his misconduct.

Many employees will therefore be pleased with the departure of the creative director. It remains to be seen whether the working atmosphere will continue to improve as a result. Because despite the past departures, the conditions in the offices should only improve at a slow pace.
